Animatricks filmfest screening Iranian ‘Crab’

Iranian ‘Crab’ is on screen at the Animatricks Int’l Animation fest in Finland.

Iranian short flick ‘Crab’ has been screening at the Animatricks International Animation Festival in Finland.

Shiva Sadeq-Asadi’s 11-minute flick is being shown at the International competition 5: Dreamy & Surreal section of the 21st edition of the Finnish event.

‘Crab’, which has been produced by Iran’s Institute for Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults, is about a reserved and isolated schoolboy who is a theater enthusiast.

Regardless of his emotional situation, he wishes to play a role in the theater group of his school. But, the only part offered to him is the role of a crab.

The film has already taken part in a number of global events, including the Ottawa International Animation Fest in Canada, the Countryside Animafest Cyprus film festival and the Shanghai International filmfest in China.

As a filmmaker, Sadeq-Asadi has already made a name for her award-winning short ‘Manned & Macho’ which has been shown and awarded at various global film events in Russia, South Korea, Italy, Australia, the US and Ukraine.

Since 2000, the Animatricks has been the only animation festival held in Helsinki, Finland, aiming to present to the world the animated films with unique storytelling.

It is a three-day event; the 2021 edition of the event kicked off on May 20 and it is slated to wrap up on May 23.
